Monarch Butterfly Meadow

Through the generous support of the Manchester Monarch's Hockey Team our new community school yard will include a Marvelous Monarch Meadow.  Currently, our students utilize a small butterfly garden to support their unit of study “Marvelous Metamorphosis,” where they follow the life cycle of Monarch butterflies.  Students search for caterpillars in our garden of “host” plants and watch as these caterpillars transform into beautiful chrysalises and magically emerge as Monarch butterflies.  Students then tag their butterflies and track the Monarch’s migration to Mexico. Through this generous grant, our students will be creating a new Monarch meadow that will be overflowing with beautiful host plants.  This will beckon to all of our Monarch friends and their fans.
